What do you expect for $99 dollar rod? In the case of the Daiwa Tatula XT, you can expect a hellava lot of quality as it turns out. You will be shocked by the fit, finish and feel of this rod at the sub $100 price point....and, not that it should matter, it looks cool as hell!
Looks
It's not really supposed to matter how a rod looks... what it casts and fishes like should be paramount. However, above the foregrip, you will notice a nut designed to help transmit more subtle vibrations through the rod. Entirely functional and a good design feature, but it also just looks really cool. The cosmetics of the whole rod look hundreds of dollars more expensive that it actually is.
Reel Seat
This rod is blank through reel seat, as many rods are, but the way this rod has been designed, it is very sensitive and even the slightest bump gets transferred directly into your hands. This is useful for a wide variety of fishing techniques.Designed for crankbait fishing, you will want to use it for a variety of other techniques and fisheries as well.
The trigger grip is comfortable and will fit most hands very nicely.
Well Balanced
Rods in the sub $100 category tend to be a little clunky or heavy. That can be fine if it is a back up or only occasionally fished rod. If you are going to fish all day with a cheaper rod, that is another matter entirely. Depending on what reel you match it up with, it can be a tad tip heavy for some folks. But, if you balance it out correctly, you won't hardly notice.
Compared to other rods at this price, it's going to feel really balanced and light.
Takeaway...
We think most fisherman would be happy with this rod if it came in at the $150-200 price point... That you can get it for $99 is a big, fat, giant bonus. Check it out in our online store or come see us at the shop and we will put one in your hands.
