SHIMANO STRADIC FL SPINNING REEL

The STRADIC is already a well known and highly appreciated spinning reel which is used by hundred of thousands anglers, all over the world. Already for years and years, all these anglers have the same experience about STRADIC: strong and reliable, a reel which will never let them down.

The new STRADIC FL - successor of the FK - will of course carry this same identity: strong and reliable. However, there are some new exciting features on the FL: 1. Rotation Smoothness (MicroModule II, Silent Drive) 2. Durability (Increased Hagane Gear strength, X Protect) 3. Casting Performance (Long stroke spool). This proposition makes the STRADIC FL the ideal ‘all-round’ spinning reel. It can be used for any type of freshwater fishing and is very suitable for ways of fishing where reliability and strength are important (river fishing, big fish, bigger lures). At the same time this reel is an ideal choice for saltwater inshore fishing. Because the versatile range with many sizes and gear ratio’s, there will be always a suitable Stradic for every angler.

If you are looking for a new do-it-all spinning reel; something that is light yet strong, with a high-pound test drag,and  a reel that will last several tough seasons of fishing ,the Stradic FL is probably for you. If you need a workhorse reel that can withstand the abuse and still perform at a high level, the Stradic FL is probably for you.The Goose Hummock Pro Staff has  yet to find a more balanced, and durable, reel ,at this price point, than the Stradic.

What we love about it

  • Performance: We've been using the Stradic FL line of reels for several seasons now and  wouldn’t hesitate to buy more. They have performed so well for us, even with minimal cleaning. They remain smooth, casting long distances, and the drag is very strong and durable.

  • Versatility: The Stradic reels are incredibly versatile, they come in multiple sizes, and are saltwater capable. This makes it an ideal reel for jigs, soft plastics, and finesse presentations. The larger sizes can easily handle big saltwater sport fish.

  • Drag System: The drag system on the Shimano Stradic FL is a cross-carbon drag system, easily adjusted with the dial on the front of the reel. This drag is rated for 20lbs, and when engaged, releases the line in a smooth way without popping; it’s a smooth slip all the way. It is also rated for saltwater and will not corrode or otherwise be negatively affected by salt.

  • Feel: The reel is a perfect fit to my hand; it’s light and very balanced on the rod, and has a solid feel to it.

  • Maintenance: This is one of the things I love most about this reel. While I do recommend cleaning and lubing this reel at least once per season, you can actually get away with going longer. The bearings are well-sealed, and dirt and debris intrusion are almost nonexistent. 

Final verdict

For those who are looking for a great quality reel, one that will last for years and won’t break the bank, we highly recommend the Shimano Stradic FL.  It will provide incredible castability and endurance in almost any situation.
